First Aid Policy

To all Players, Parents and Coaches

At a recent HYFC Committee meeting the matter of administering first aid
was discussed. The committee felt it would be appropriate if we
communicated the club's position and policy on this matter.

All teams are equipped with the necessary basic first aid kits, as well as
cold packs, sprays etc. These are always taken and available at all matches
and training sessions.

Please remember that in the event of first aid being necessary, it would
always be preferred that the person administering had at least been given
some form of basic first aid training. With this in mind, would any parent
who has such knowledge please make their coaches aware, so as in the event
of an accident, the team would know who to look for.

The Committee feel that the club has the responsibility to look after any
such person requiring first aid, but would ask you to bear in mind that it
would be of the minimum requirement, ie to make the injured party
comfortable, safe and secure, and also contact emergency services if
required. We will not try to administer beyond our abilities in light of
making the situation worse and therefore facing the possibility of action
of a different kind.

Would all Players and Parents please consider this statement and if you have
any concerns, please channel them through your age group coach to the Committee.
A non-response to this letter will be taken as an indication you are in agreement
with the Club following this policy, in the event of an accident or treatment being required.
