Heavitree Youth Football Club Codes of Conduct
PLAYERS:
Players are the most important people in the sport. Playing for the team, and for the team to win, is the most fundamental part of the game, BUT not winning at any cost. Fair Play and respect for all other in the game is fundamentally important.
- You should make every effort to attend all club training sessions.
- You must always wear shin pads to training and matches. If they are not worn then, for safety reasons, you may not be allowed to play or train.
- You must accept responsibility for your own behaviour during training and on match days. Swearing, violent conduct or bad behaviour is not acceptable and your coach has the right to drop you from the squad or prevent you from training following these circumstances. You should always try to represent Heavitree Youth Football Club in a positive way.
- If you are unavailable to play in a match you should let your coach know as soon as possible, so that he can find a substitute in good time.
- You should make every effort to improve your own skills and technique.
- You should accept success and failure, victory and defeat equally.
- You should make every effort consistent with fair play and the laws of the game, to help your team win.
- You must always show respect to match officials, opposing players, opposing managers and supporters.
- You must respect and look after all training and playing areas.
- Play because you enjoy football, not to please anyone else.
PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
Parents/Guardians have a great influence on children's enjoyment and success in football. All children play football because they first and foremost love the game. Your expectations and attitudes have a significant bearing on a child's attitude towards other players, officials, managers and spectators, so for the enjoyment of all, the following code of conduct is expected to be followed by all Parents/Guardians:
- Avoid coaching during training and matches.
- Do not constantly shout and scream at players.
- Respect the decisions of all officials, whether qualified or unqualified. New and young officials should be encouraged and supported.
- Do not make any comments other than complimentary towards players, officials and spectators of opposing teams.
- Offer plenty of support and encouragement towards all players during matches.
- Ensure that all players are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions, and have the correct footwear, shin pads and drinks.
- Inform the Team Manager/Coach if a child cannot attend training or match days and make every effort to arrive on time.
- Respect the decisions and team selection of the Team Manger/Coach. These are the sole responsibility of the Manager/Coach whose decision is final. Remember, they are volunteers who give up their time and resources to provide football for your children.
- Complaints in respect of the running of a game must be dealt with by the Team Manager/Coach. It is not acceptable for individuals to take matters into their own hands.
- Respect all members of the club.
- If the behaviour of any adult associated with any team player is considered to fall below the required standard, this may result in the membership of that player being suspended or cancelled.
- Remember that children play football for their own enjoyment, not for your entertainment.
